State awards contract to Health Information Designs

AUBURN -- Health Information Designs Inc. has been awarded a contract by the Alabama Department of Public Health to develop and implement records management software for the state of Alabama's Pharmacy Drug Monitoring program.

Alabama's Pharmacy Drug Monitoring program will allow the Department of Public Health to reduce illegal distribution of controlled substances by identifying patterns that could be indicative of illegal sales by physicians or pharmacists, controlled substances issued to one patient by more than one doctor, prescription forgery or other means of obtaining controlled substances for illegal dissemination.
