Verizon enhances coverage in Alabama

BIRMINGHAM - Verizon Wireless deployed new cell sites and network enhancements to improve coverage and capacity in 15 markets across the state during the second quarter of 2006.

The quarter's investment includes capacity expansion in Birmingham and new cell sites in eastern and northwestern parts of the state. The network expansion is part of more than $63 million in network investment by Verizon Wireless in Alabama and Georgia during the first half of 2006.

Auburn University received expanded coverage and enhanced capacity along the west side of campus in the second quarter.
