Hair stylists complete training in New York

MONTGOMERY - Four local hair stylists are bringing a touch of New York style here after completing course work at an exclusive training center.

Van Leez Salon hair stylists Brooke Carr, Joey Graham, Darrill James and Winston White attended a week-long certification course at the Bumble and bumble University in New York City, where they participated in a unique and exclusive hands-on training regimen.

"Select salons carrying Bumble and bumble products are invited to the university to learn in a hands-on atmosphere," Graham said. "We were able to study the techniques in a classroom, then go to their student hair salon and work with live models."

Graham said the curriculum covered the latest looks, styles and trends in hair styling being used by New York-based stylists. "You're working with the best people in the industry, learning their signature styles and techniques," Graham said. "Then we get to bring those styles to our customers here."

Graham said that he and the other attending stylists are also taught how to instruct customers on recreating those looks at home on their own. The course also covered the products in Bumble and bumble's treatment line, which is carried in Montgomery exclusively by Van Leez.
